nothing special

I spent the afternoon selling sourdough bread at the Harvest Festival yesterday. It was such a pleasure to meet and chat with customers. Some had come from COGS where they buy Merton bread every weekend, but others were just passing by. One person asked me, So what’s special about this bread?” I felt a bit put on the spot and responded by saying, There’s nothing special about it”. We laughed about this but it’s hard to think of any food less special than flour, salt and water mixed, fermented and then baked.
